Do you know who is running in the election for Town Council this November 7th?
I am Rick Bush, and I am asking you to get to know me.
I believe West Hartford is growing too fast. We need to assess the impact of all the new housing developments on traffic, police resources and future costs to our community before we add more congestion to our town center. I believe West Hartford really is and should stay a small town and we should stop the huge development of the former UConn Property. We should strengthen our police force to reduce crime and stop the disregard for red lights. We should focus on ways to address environment & climate related issues at a local level through our new Sustainable West Hartford commission. We need to support strategic economic development on New Park Ave, in Elmwood, and around West Hartford in a way that benefits our residents, not just the developers. I will continue my work with the MDC to help residents with flooding issues and to eliminate sewer outflows that contaminate our basements, streets, and rivers.
I will bring a thoughtful, fiscally conservative perspective to the council and be a responsible steward of our town. I will do my homework on the issues and be ready to negotiate on behalf of the residents, small business owners, housing providers, tenants, elderly, teachers, and our children.
It’s important to take a little bit of time to get to know the candidates because they will make decisions that will influence and affect your life.
Who you vote for makes a difference and who they are makes a difference. What isn’t as significant is what letter is in front of their name. Just because a candidate is affiliated with one party or another doesn’t mean they will protect your rights, defend your beliefs or govern well.
On November 7th, there will be 11 candidates on the ballot for Town Council.
6 D’s, 4 R’s and 1 Independent.
Before you cast your vote on November 7th, get to know me West Hartford.
